Vucinic ‘excited’ after Juventus move

Tuesday 02 August 2011

Mirko Vucinic has given his first interview as a Juventus player, telling Juventus Channel he is “excited and happy” to be at the club.

The Montenegrin moved to Turin from Roma in a deal worth €15 million, signing a four year contract on Monday:"I'm both excited and happy to be playing for Juventus. Roma was in my heart but it's over now.”

Juve turned to Vucinic when talks with Villarreal over Giuseppe Rossi stalled and have now completed their signings up front.

“I can play as first or second striker, as well as a winger: I just need to have a chance to get on the pitch. And if [Coach Antonio] Conte would find a fourth position for me, I'll be willing to do so as well...”

Vucinic then responded to words from ex-Milan striker and fellow Montenegrin, Dejan Savicevic who praised the ex-Roma man's contributions at both club and national level.

“Did he say that I'm one of the five best strikers in the world? He always exaggerates but the words of a champion like him are always welcomed, so I thank him.”

Vucinic joined the capital-club from Lecce in 2006, making over 200 appearances for I Lupi. However, he demanded a move this summer and was also linked to Manchester United.
