What Teams Have the Best Chance of Challenging Juventus For the Italian Serie A Title?

By Football Italiano

Sunday 16 December 2018

Regarded as one of the best leagues in the world for football, Serie A is also one of the most tactical leagues with teams vying for the coveted Coppa Campioni d’Italia award. The Campionato runs until 26th May, with the key dates to watch out for occurring on 22, 26 and 30th of December. For anyone looking to place their bets and gamble on the winner of the Serie A title with Infogol, these are the top three teams currently making waves in the table and causing a threat to Juventus for the title win in May.

Napoli
At this point in the season, Napoli are the toughest competition Juventus have for claiming the Serie A title. Carlo Ancelotti has been the biggest signing of the summer, with Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri tweeting that Ancelotti is synonymous with coaching brilliance. But the real coup is keeping the attacking trident together and convincing Marek Hamsik to stay on. Fabian Ruiz is set to establish himself as one of the best foreign imports, but Napoli also have to contend with the loss of Jorginho who made the switch to Chelsea this year. The club has already won Serie A twice and are in a great position to make it a third-time win in 2019, if they continue to perform as well as they have so far.

Inter Milan
Inter Milan arguably have assembled the best side they’ve had since 2010, with the team pulling out all the stops to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title this season. With Stefan de Vriff and World Cup finalist Sime Vrsalijko replacing Cancelo as right-back, they look like the most improved team on paper that the league has to offer. Lautaro Martinez is expected to be Serie A’s next big thing, while Keita Balde Diao and Matteo Politano are destined to make Inter’s attack unpredictable and riskier. What’s more, former Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has recently joined Inter Milan as CEO for sport. With the team much more flexible than in previous seasons, Inter look readier than any other team in the table for coming at Juventus for the title, maintaining their role as Juventus’ biggest rivals.

AC Milan
While Milan are known for switching things up, this time seems different. AC Milan didn’t have the greatest start to the summer but it’s including great additions left and right. They’ve brought back club legends Leonardo and Maldini to fix the club and they’ve been busy making changes, with the biggest coup being the Caldara and Higuain steals from Juventus and the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan. Milan have been performing well in the season so far and despite doubts early on, they could be in a great position to challenge Juventus towards the end of the season for the title, currently sitting at fourth in the table but with every opportunity to ascend further.
