Milan plan Mexes move
Wednesday 12 January 2011
Phillippe Mexes is out of contract at the end of this season and it is reported that Milan are keen to take the Roma defender to the San Siro, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 28 year old center back has been linked to Arsenal of late but it seems that Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is keen to obtain the French Internationals services. Le Parisien has reported that Roma maybe willing to listen to offers in the January transfer window as it would be more profitable to cash in on Mexes now, rather allowing him to leave on a free at the end of the season. Reports from Rome have suggested that Mexes is stalling on signing a new contact and may not see his future with the Giallorossi.
Mexes was signed by Roma in 2004 from Auxerre, he has since gone on to make 161 appearances for the club scoring ten goals. One of the high points of Mexes’s career came in the 2008 Coppa Italia Final where he scored the opening goal in a 2-1 victory over Inter, however, on the flip side he has been somewhat over looked by the French National side missing out of the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
Milan who are top of the league would welcome of player of Mexes’s calibre to sure up there back line and with the Frenchman’s ‘no rush’ attitude for a new contract his future may well lie away from the Stadio Olimpico
