Parma complete future Pelle swoop

Monday 31 January 2011

Parma have officially agreed a pre-contract with striker Graziano Pelle, who will return to Italy at the end of the season when his contract with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar expires.

The former Italy under-21 international has not impressed while playing in Holland, but will still have to see out the season with AZ. He has, however, already put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Parma that will commence in June.

AZ would have asked for a cut-price deal for Pelle had Parma wanted to sign him immediately, but both clubs have decided to wait until the end of the season before an amicable swoop is completed.

The 26-year-old was bought by AZ in 2007 for €6 million but has managed just 12 goals in 67 games in Holland. Parma will now add him to their attack for next season in an attempt to take the goalscoring burden off the ageing Hernan Crespo.
