Totti: "We must beat Inter"

Roma Captain Francesco Totti is convinced that his side must beat Inter this week to have any hope of winning the Scudetto. The Giallorossi travel to the Giuseppe Meazza this weekend in what both teams see as a must win game.

Roma only managed a 1-1 with Brescia at home this week and they currently lie in fifth place, nine points off the leaders Milan with a game in hand. Inter who lie in third have title aspirations of their own and trail Milan by seven points but also have a game in hand.

Totti spoke to Sky Spots Italia and emphasized the importance of getting a positive result against the Nerazzurri on Sunday night.

“The game against Inter is very important. We cannot underestimate the value of the game as we are nine points behind Milan and have a game in hand. If we want to remain within reach of Milan then we have to get a result. In any case, the league is still long and so there is time.”

If the Giallorossi beat the European Champions then they will take their place in third but defeat would see a possible twelve point gap open up should the Rossoneri beat Genoa.

For the Milan camp, the best possible result would be a draw keeping both teams a drift of Massimiliano Allegri's men. The tactician will be looking to return to winning ways with Andrea Pirlo returning to the fold after being out through injury.
