Bari Ultra’s told to calm down by 'Il Parigino'

By Richard Hall

Friday 25 February 2011

The 200 Bari Ultras that have staged a violent protest due the team’s poor recent performances, have been told to calm down by Ultra leaders.

Bari currently sit bottom of the Serie A table, they are seven points off 19th place Cesena and have amassed only three wins and six draws in 26 games. This has caused the Bari faithful to turn on their team and these protests have turned violent with players being kicked, man handles and spat on.

Yesterday saw a change of tact when Bari ultra leader Alberto Savarese, known as Il Parigino, told TeleBari. “I expected the fans to protest and consider it legitimate for them to let their voices be heard, as long as they don’t go over the top. In all honesty, they could’ve avoided the spitting and kicking, because often the same players who are attacked then tend to be approached for a photo or autograph. I tell all the fans that there are right ways you can protest and there are wrong ways.”

The unrest at the club has been an unwelcome distraction for the club as they try to prepare for the weekends game at home to Fiorentina.
