Genoa zero in on Frey after Viviano injury
Genoa’s choice for a new number one goalkeeper may have sorted itself out after a terrible knee injury suffered by Emilano Viviano.
Tuttomercatoweb states the Rossoblu will focus their attention on Fiorentina shot-stopper Sebastien Frey, who has fallen out of favour with the Viola.
Inter custodian Viviano was expected to be loaned out to another club to further gain experience, with Genoa closest to his capture.
However, he has a complete lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee after a training injury. It is expected the injury will keep him out for at least five months, ruining his plans for the upcoming season.
Now the Rossoblu will meet with Frey, who has been in Florence since 2005, to convince him of the move. Fiorentina may let the former French international leave on a free transfer.
Genoa loaned Portuguese international goalkeeper Eduardo to Benfica after an inconsistent season with the Grifoni. The Portuguese giants have an option to buy the ‘keeper at the end of the season.
