Milan monitoring Schweinsteiger

Wednesday 27 July 2011

AC Milan have once again been linked with a transfer for Bayern captain and German international Bastian Schweinsteiger. The midfielder has a contract with Bayern until 2015, however Milan have apparently made him their primary objective.

Milan have been looking for "Mister X" the whole transfer window, and have been linked with moves for various players such as Marek Hamsik, Javier Pastore, Riccardo Montolivo, Alberto Aquilani, Cesc Fabregas and Ganso to fill that midfield void left by the departure of Andrea Pirlo.

Max Allegri joked at his press conference ahead of their game against Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup that he was in fact "Mister X". When asked if the speculation about Schweinsteiger was true, Allegri continued by saying :

"During the summer there is much speculation about the transfer market and who may be coming to Milan. At the moment he is a Bayern player and out of respect of the club and its president we will not talk about their players".

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani and Sporting Director Ariedo Braida will be watching the game and Schweinsteiger closely as they look to find their "Mister X", but are in no rush to make any move.

Galliani stated: "Last year we signed Ibra and Robinho at the end of the transfer window and we are in no hurry to make a move right now".
