Vargas is number one Juventus priority

Following the capture of striker Mirko Vucinic, Juventus are expected to zero in on Fiorentina winger Juan Vargas, according to Tuttosport.

Vargas’ agent, Jorge Cyzterpiller, recently left the door open for a possible switch, noting: “If an important offer for both us and Fiorentina arrives, we would take it into consideration.”

Juventus are expected to insert one of their unwanted players into the deal. Amauri appears to be the frontrunner as La Viola are unsure whether Alberto Gilardino will stay at the club. The Italo-Brazilian would represent a like-for-like replacement.

Jorge Martinez has also been mentioned after a lacklustre debut season for the Old Lady. Finally, Marco Storari could also be used to bring the price down after Fiorentina sold Sebastian Frey to Genoa.

The Turin giants have been linked to Sevilla’s Diego Perotti, Michel Bastos of Lyon, Manchester United winger Nani and Ibrahim Afellay of Barcelona in addition to Vargas, who appears to be the number one choice.
