Marco Di Vaio has revealed he rejected a potential switch to Napoli out of love for Bologna.

The veteran striker and club captain has been at the Felsinei since 2008, contributing over 50 goals during a tumultuous time at the club.

Di Vaio told Gazzetta dello Sport: “In the summer they wanted me, as Napoli were preparing for the Champions League, but I said no because I love Bologna and want to finish my career here.”

“I enjoy the respect of my teammates and the coach, but I am born again thanks to the fans.”

Di Vaio opened his season account at the weekend, netting in the 3-1 victory over Atalanta.
