Genoa chase midfielders as Ribas departs

Genoa is chasing a pair of central midfielders in January to compliment the signing of Alberto Gilardino, as they loan out Sebastian Ribas.
Gilardino was signed from Fiorentina earlier in the week for €8m and according to il Corriere Mercantile, new Coach Pasquale Marino may also be handed Davide Biondini.
The Cagliari midfielder is available for a free transfer in June but could be purchased for a cut-price this month. Genoa is assessing their options in case Juraj Kucka, co-owned by Inter, moves to the Nerazzurri. Marco Parolo has also been mentioned and could cost between €5-6m.
Meanwhile, Ribas has joined Sporting Lisbon on loan until the end of the season. The Uruguayan striker has not yet featured for the Grifone since his summer move from then French second division side Dijon FCO. The Portuguese giants have an option to make the move permanent in June.
