Incidents disturbing Arrigoni

By Luca Cetta

Monday 09 January 2012

Cesena boss Daniele Arrigoni states Udinese deserved their win on Sunday but lamented the incidents which led to the loss and 4-1 scoreline.

The match could not have started any worse for the visitors, as Antonio Di Natale scored inside the first minute. An equaliser netted by Eder gave Cesena hope, but three second-half goals and a red card to Maurizio Lauro ended the contest.

Arrigoni told reporters following the final whistle: “We really made a bad start; I thought it would have been even harder from then on, but we actually had a reaction and after equalising we could have made it 2-1. The key moment was their second goal and then the red card virtually ended the game. It’s incredible how our matches can come down to single incidents; it shouldn’t have to happen…”

“The score is harsh, but [Francesco] Antonioli’s mistake was a big one: however I would say there has been only one mistake, not two,” referring firstly to Pablo Armero’s goal which squirmed under Antonioli and then to Dusan Basta’s long-range strike.

Eder has been rumoured to depart the club this month, but Arrigoni says it is not an option unless a signing is made.

“I don’t think Eder is leaving before we have another striker signed. Transfer market? I don’t know the off-field happenings, I just try to coach my squad and do my best”.
