Lecce midfielder Manuel Giandonato hopes to return to action within a month following knee surgery.

On loan from Juventus, Giandonato was injured during the loss to Lazio on December 10th. The Abruzzo native underwent arthroscopic surgery yesterday and told TuttoJuve.com he hopes to make a quick recovery.

“The operation went very well. I am still at the clinic, but I have made the first step back to recovery and hope to return soon. I believe that I can make a return to the pitch in about a month.

“I feel good, it’s a pity about the injury. I would say it really is a pity, but in football these things happen.”

Giandonato has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Lecce side, but has enjoyed the experience so far: “I am really pleased. I must confess it is very nice to have the affection of the fans - I say this with my heart. It is always nice to know that the people follow and encourage you. I thank all the fans.”
