Cambiasso relieved to get three points

By Luca Cetta

Monday 23 January 2012

Esteban Cambiasso concedes Inter struggled against Lazio, but was happy to gain the victory against a direct European opponent.

Tomasso Rocchi put Lazio into a first-half lead, only for Diego Milito and then Giampaolo Pazzini to score and ensure the points went to the Nerazzurri, elevating them above Lazio into fourth place on the ladder.

Inter were not at their best and there was controversy surrounding the winner, as Pazzini looked to be in an offside position before lifting the ball over Federico Marchetti.

“It was a difficult match and the pitch can affect your performance and your game; we weren't so fluid, you could see that we were struggling to move the ball about, but we were in it and that's reassuring,” Cambiasso told reporters after the match.

“You should be worried when a team doesn't have the right attitude and that’s not something that happens to us, though there are days when it comes out more than others. We won with perhaps a slightly fortunate goal but we're determined and that’s what matters to us.”

Inter have won seven straight league matches but were heavily criticised after a poor start to the season, however Cambiasso believes the talk was normal for a big club.

“You’re bound to get criticism when you're a top team. There are those who love you and those who always look for something negative. Good sides always get talked about, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always a lot. Let's not forget that people said Inter would be battling relegation and instead we're here.”
