Pinilla keen to repay Cagliari

Thursday 26 January 2012

New Cagliari signing Mauricio Pinilla says the Sardinian club has offered him a new motivation after a switch from Palermo.

The Rossoblu are in need of a goal-scorer after finishing the first half of the season with the equal-second worst record in front of goal, netting just 16 times.

Pinilla told Mediagol.it: “I must thank Cagliari, who were determined to get me and have demonstrated that they believe in me. I was in need of a new motivation, a new challenge, and in Sardinia I have found that.”

The Chilean international joined Palermo in 2010, netting ten times in 34 matches, with just two coming this campaign. He insists the split was amicable: “The reason behind my departure remains between me and Palermo, but I have nothing against anybody at the club.”
