Man Utd target Perisic as Inter line-up Italy duo

Manchester United are lining up a 60m euro offer for Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic this summer, according to reports in the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Perisic, 28, has been a key member of the Inter side since his 2015 move from Wolfsburg for 16m euros, and this season has netted nine goals in 28 league appearances.

United boss Jose Mourinho is clear that he needs reinforcements for next season, if they are to compete for the Premier League title, or indeed for Champions League qualification next season, and the Croatian winger fits the bill as an energetic, talented wide man, who is willing to track back and help the team defensively. Chelsea are also thought to be interested in making a bid, although Netbet odds are backing the Red Devils to make Perisic their man.

The sale is thought to be of interest to Suning, the main owners of Inter, in that it would help iron out any FIFA Financial Fair Play issues, following investment under Thohir – the sale of Perisic for such a large fee, would be mean the club can keep star-man and captain Mauro Icardi, and allow for further purchases in the summer.

A sale of Perisic would allow Inter to pursue key targets Domenico Berardi and Federico Bernardeschi, two Italian youngsters establishing themselves in the Nazionale first team, and much admired by the Nerazzurri. It is thought they would fit into a Stefano Pioli view of an Inter side with an Italian base, where Inter currently have Davide Santon, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Roberto Gagliardini, and Antonio Candreva.
