Juventus Close Gap with Away Win against Rivals Napoli

By Football Italiano

Monday 04 December 2017

The huge game in Italy on Friday night was won by Juventus and thanks to that victory over their near rivals Napoli, they close the gap on them to just one point after 15 games.

Going into the game, Napoli had a great chance to pull seven points clear of the Italian giants, but it was Juventus who won, to keep the league title a close battle as we head towards the Christmas period.

Napoli were clear favourites to lift the Serie A title before the game kicked off, but since then, the latest Serie A betting has Juventus closing in on them at 5/4. It was a huge win for Juventus, and one that could kick-start their run for the title, and it would be no surprise to see them overtake Napoli in the coming weeks.

When Juventus were beaten by Sampdoria a couple of weeks ago, Napoli looked sure to be heading into the busy festive period with a good cushion, but that has all been wiped away. A draw against Chievo and the loss to Juventus in their last four games has put the brakes on Napoli and they are going to have to regroup over the coming days before getting down to work again next weekend. This was the first time Napoli have lost all season and they will want to quickly forget it happened.

Next weekend they have another home game, this time against Fiorentina, who are struggling in mid-table and that will give them a perfect opportunity to bounce back. Napoli won 10 out of their first 11 games of the season, giving them a flying start and that is what form they need to rediscover going forward if they are to keep Juventus at bay.

There is no rest for Juventus, who face a huge game next weekend when they play Inter Milan at home. This is another huge game and a huge test for them, and if they can pick up another three points they will begin to believe that the title is winnable this season, after being well of the pace just a few weeks ago. Inter beat Cagliari last weekend 3-1 to record their 11th win of the season, and they look capable of challenging with Juventus and Napoli for the title, so expect to see a great game when they face Juventus.

The battle for the Serie A title looks sure to go down to the wire this season, with numerous top quality teams involved. After their lightning-fast start, Napoli have come back to Juventus and Inter Milan and it is going to be fascinating to see how they respond to that. They clearly have the talent in their squad to do well, but Juventus have all the experience when it comes to winning trophies and they are going to be a hard team to beat. Things are sure to get even closer are we approach Christmas and the second half of the Serie A season look set to be thrilling.
