MILANO, 08 JULY The possibilty of a deal to bring Frank Lampard to the Guiseppe Meazza this summer has been rubbished by Chelsea on their website, after claiming that they "will not enter into any discussions" over the player and that "Contrary to reports, no financial offer was made".
It is said that new Blues manager Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to keep Lamps until the end of his contract next summer, and that this is the reason behind the public statement. However, Inter President Massimo Moratti isn't quite ready to give up on Jose Mournho's number one target, simply saying "we'll see" as to what happens next.
Any possible deal it would seem would rest on two things. Frank Lampard will have to ask to leave Stamford Bridge, something he is yet to do. Secondly, it would appear that a bigger offer than Inter were expecting would be necessary to tempt Peter Kenyon and Felipe Scolari to the table.
